Purpose of Role:

 

Raise awareness of Healthwatch and gather information of people’s experience of  health and social care services

Main Duties:

  • Talk to people in areas of hospital outpatient departments about Healthwatch Bradford and District
  • Help to gather information of peoples’ experience of health and social care services by encouraging people to give comments
  • Support with the paper recording of information collated.
  • Keep displayed information about Healthwatch up to date and relevant

Qualities required:

  • Confident to approach people and engage them in conversation
  • Ability to communicate with a wide range of people from different backgrounds and communities
  • Active listener and empathic communicator
  • Understand and maintain confidentiality
  • Some knowledge of health and social care services
  • Reliable and trustworthy
  • Willing to undertake training
  • Able to attend regular volunteer briefings

Support provided:

  • Supported and supervised by: Healthwatch Information Officer
  • Induction to Healthwatch & health and social care system
  • Training on Healthwatch Information  and Signposting Service
  • Guidance and ongoing support

Time Commitment:

Minimum  of 2 hour regular slots on alternate Wednesdays

at BRI

Expenses:

Agreed expenses will be reimbursed
